Senior Python Backend Engineer (AI & ERP Automation)

We are looking for an experienced Backend Python Engineer to join a dedicated product team building a high-volume AI automation platform for the construction finance industry. We focus on delivering highly secure and resilient solutions, transitioning complex manual workflows into robust, production-grade enterprise systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing the backend logic required for asynchronous document processing pipelines and deep ERP integrations. You will utilize your strong proficiency in Python to design and maintain efficient RESTful APIs that orchestrate interactions between Azure OCR, LLMs (OpenAI/Anthropic), and legacy systems.

A key area of specialization will be implementing core services for AI data extraction, including managing context windows for large documents, engineering safeguards against LLM hallucinations, and building circuit breakers to handle third-party API outages.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Own the Pipeline: Develop features from proposal to production, focusing on backend logic for asynchronous document processing and financial automation
• Build Resilient AI Services: Implement and maintain orchestration layers for Azure OCR and LLMs (OpenAI/Anthropic), designing "circuit breakers" and fallbacks to ensure stability during third-party API outages
• Ensure Data Integrity: Architect deep integrations with legacy SQL Server databases, optimizing queries to prevent locking in a high-volume transactional environment
• Drive Quality & Monitoring: Join a culture of full ownership - code, testing, peer reviews, and post-release monitoring

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development
• Strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem, with hands-on experience building efficient RESTful APIs(preferably FastAPI)
• Solid experience with SQL Server (T-SQL) and working with legacy/on-premise database integrations. Experience with concurrency and locking strategies is essential.
• Experience with C# (for legacy interoperability) is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in designing asynchronous systems and managing state across complex workflows (e.g., handling failures in multi-step pipelines)
• Experience with software testing principles (pytest) and a mindset of "developer-led QA"
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Practical experience with AI implementation, specifically managing LLM context windows, prompt engineering for strict JSON schemas, and hallucination safeguards
• Knowledge of Azure cloud services (e.g. Azure OCR/Vision, Logic Apps/Power Automate)
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to stakeholder
